Convette
ok, well I think I've gathered enough pics to make for a good look... I'll dig out some eailier pics to show the paint progresss.. but for now... I've had the car for over 10 years now, its gone through many phases.. I just freshly painted it and left for college 4years ago, now really going crazy with it.....http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/conquesttsi-r2.jpghad enough of the turbo4http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2081.jpgand all that heavy interior stuff...http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2200.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2198.jpgfull custom cagehttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2703.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2707.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2708.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2734.jpggot a hearthttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2655.jpgfirst test fithttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2747.jpgfire wall cut out, very modified K member...some ppl used a gto oil pan, but I wanted to motor low as possible, so I stayed with the vette pan. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2795.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2796.jpghttp://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2781.jpgWhere it should sit.http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/100_2779.jpgstill need to fab motormounts, and figure out the steering situation. Once the motor and trans(t56) fits it will all come out, and be painted. No plans as of yet to go crazy with power, just a reliable fun streetcar with 400+hp everyday... I know its been done as we all saw the ls1 turbo... but it has not been done like this. Edited October 1, 2013 by Convette

v8starion
It looks awsome. Nice ground clearance. Seems to be a very good fit. What is your concept as far as the throttle pedal? do you have any interior shots with the engine in?

Convette
About the pedals, I'm not 100% sure yet of what I'm going to do. the brake booster does not fit, and the gas pedal mounting location has been cut out. So I'm thinking floor mount setup. It really depends how much more I have to do when i get the tranny. I know a little more from the tunnel has to be removed. But I do have tons of room inside. They placement of the cage allows me to have me seat pretty much all the way back. and yeah...thats a party cup. lol I'm switching throttle bodys. Convette
got a little more done this week. Mostly trying to research what to do with the front end. I'm getting a mustang GT rack, and some 1998 spindles, and brakes. Does any one know if cobra brakes I believe that they are 13" will clear the stock conquest wheels? v8starion
If you are mounting the rack in front of the crossmember Cant you use the stock spindles? Just swap sides. L for right and so on...? I dont know. I thought I had read that here in a write up.

fastfail
Damn, that is sexy. Where did you get your motor from?? I've been looking for and LS motor, but most are a little pricey.

Convette
finally got some more done yesterday, pulled the whole rear subframe, brakes suspension and all. I will be selling some more parts soon as I know what I don't need. Some more rippin and tearin tonight, and it'll be off to the powdercoater. I'll post some pics up tomorrow night. About switching the balljoints on the front side to side... I tried it, and well it kinda works. they don't exactly line up with the struts when you do that. Also it puts the steering tierod ends right in line of the caster links.... soI'm going to do something different..
BrazilBoy
Good man get her done for Vegas mang...we have some nice 1.6 mile long tunnel to blast through waiting for you....

Convette
no turbo for now, .. maybe a procharger...lol. we'll see how it does in stock form. So I got the whole rear subframe apart, I must say I almost feel like I'm wasting time. All the parts are in great shape, even the bushings look new. I'm going to sand them down and paint everything then put new poly bushings in.
rustrocket
i like what you have done with the fire wall. i was going to go that way but didn't want ot have to drop the engine to change the spark plugs. i think that position should make the car handle awsome and the batwing oil pan fit so nice. when you said you were taking the rear end out i was scared you were going with a strait axle at first. glad to see you are staying with the irs. great work so far. have fun and i will try to keep up. Convette
No, I'm def keeping the IRS. So yesterday I got my GT rack. I think I can make it work but its not going to be easy. I'm going to have to get really creative with the motor mounts casue of where the steering shaft ends up. It does seems like its going to work out (lenght wise) with a little bit of welding...anything is possible.... I also ordered 99 ford gt spindels and brakes. I still might be able to use the stock control arms, I just wish they had some adjustment like ^ (rustrocket) did to his. I'll have to see how it all lines up once I get them. I'll try to get some pics up tonight.
Convette
Just like new http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2838.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2839.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2840.jpg I think it'll work....(it kinda has to)...lol http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2843.jpg
Mrounds
Looks good. I think I figured out how to use the rack and stock spindle mount. Had a machine shop redrill the hole from the top for the stock mustang tie rod ends and now it does not hit the caster or sway bar. Going to post some pictures on my thread today or tomorrow. Convette
ok, heres what I did today... All I need now is some coilovers with the correct specs. Believe it or not, it all works, (other than the balljoints being different) but everything clears, and thats with the ST swaybar. Obviously nothing is tight, its just mocked up...but its going to work.... fox body rack, 04 5lug spindles, and I will be using 13" svt brakes.(these are only 11"s) Oh yeah and those are rear 9's.... upfront...hehe http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2873.jpg herra flush and there is a 15mm spacer on the disks... not sure if I'm going to need it or not http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2866.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2867.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2875.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2861.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/102_2865.jpg Edited June 24, 2009 by idriftjunk
